For the South, it will soon be a good season for enjoying autumn scenery. The most amazing thing in autumn is the maple leaves. There are four great maple viewing spots in my country. Nanjing Qixia Mountain is one of them, and it is known as "Autumn Qixia".

There has always been a proverb in Nanjing, that is, "the first spring of the bull, the autumn Qixia", that is, Qixia Mountain in autumn is the most worth visiting place in Nanjing, especially the autumn colors here. Qixia Mountain is located in the northeastern part of Qixia District, Nanjing, adjacent to the Yangtze River. Since ancient times, Qixia Mountain has been a famous mountain with beautiful scenery and rich cultural heritage. In history, "Five Kings and Fourteen Emperors" have climbed Qixia Mountain.

Today, Qixia Mountain is not only a national 4A tourist attraction and one of the 40 scenic spots in the new Jinling, it is also known as the "Four Great Maple Viewing Spots in China" together with Beijing Fragrant Mountain, Suzhou Tianping Mountain and Changsha Yuelu Mountain. This is also every autumn The main reason why Qixia Mountain is so attractive to tourists.

Of course, the present Qixia Mountain has not yet reached the most beautiful season. Generally, the maple leaves here are the best viewing time from the end of October to mid-November.

As mentioned earlier, there are many literati and emperors and generals in Qixia Mountain. Among them is Emperor Qianlong, who often visits mountains and rivers. Qianlong visited the ancient temples in Qixia Mountain five times in the south of the Yangtze River. Qianlong praised the scenery of Qixia Mountain. For "Jinling's First Mingxiu Mountain", many exquisite poems were left in praise of Qixia Mountain. Even today, Qixia Mountain is still beautiful.

Although the mountains are not high, there are many scenic spots, including Mingjing Lake, Fengling, Taohuajian, Hongye Valley, Tiankai Rock, Yixiantian, etc., are all good places to appreciate the maple leaves, and there are many other places along the way. In addition to the conventional sightseeing routes, Qixia Mountain can be regarded as a beautiful mountain that almost maintains its original ecology. The dense woods and clear streams are full of fun.

The maple here was not originally there, but was planted in the 1980s and 1990s. Up to now, there are dozens of tree species such as red maple, Japanese maple, Pistacia chinensis, feather maple, and triangular maple. Among them, there are more than 500 maple trees over a hundred years old, which made Qixia Mountain listed as a "national forest park" in 2010.

Since I came to Nanjing, I must go to Qixia Mountain every autumn when the maple leaves are red. It seems that the scenery of the maple leaves is different every year. Last year, perhaps because of the rapid cooling of the weather and rainy days. Many, the maple leaves of Qixia Mountain are not so beautiful. I hope that the maple leaves here will be very red this year, showing a picture of red all over the mountain.

When visiting Qixia Mountain, in addition to admiring the red maple, the historical sites here also attract the attention of many tourists. There are more than 80 historical sites in Qixia Mountain, which are a collection of emperor culture, stone carvings, geology and culture, and folk customs. The customs, religious culture, etc., therefore have the reputation of "Six Dynasties", known as "a Qixia Mountain, half of the history of Jinling".

Among them, the religious culture is the most famous. Qixia Mountain has been a famous Buddhist mountain since ancient times. There is a thousand-year-old temple in the mountain, namely Qixia Temple. Qixia Temple was built in the Southern Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,500 years. After entering the Qixia Mountain Scenic Area, the first place to come is Qixia Temple. Most tourists will also choose to visit the temple or visit the temple to pray for blessing.

Qixia Mountain was originally called Qixia Jingshe. When Emperor Qianlong visited Qixia Mountain, he stayed in Qixia Temple and allocated funds to expand the monastery. At that time, Qixia Temple had more than 2,000 monks, which was the highest in the southeast.

It is a pity that the historical sites in the temple were basically destroyed due to the war. Only one stupa is the only historical site of Qixia Temple. The stupa of Qixia Temple is the largest stupa in the country. It is 15 meters high and has experienced thousands of years of ups and downs. Now it is already covered with mottles, but it still stands here.
