Tibet is not only a travel destination, but also a dream place for many people
When I was in elementary school, almost everyone wrote an article about dreams. Everyone imagined what kind of person they would become when they grew up and what kind of career they would pursue. Yes, childhood is probably the age we look forward to the most. In childhood, everyone's life is full of uncertainty and infinite possibilities. But as we grew up, entered society, and took on the burden of life... Then, the dreams of becoming astronauts, scientists, and big stars in childhood became a joke, and went away with the wind.
After adulthood, we will still talk about our dreams, but now our dreams become more practical and more accessible. A party during the holidays, a barbecue on the weekend, or even getting off work on time, will become our dreams. Not to mention becoming a big star, even paying off the mortgage in advance has become an elusive dream. The only dream that is neither a trivial matter in life, but also a little bit distant, but can be realized with hard work, is probably only travel.
Speaking of travel, when I heard about people describing their travel dreams, Tibet was the most mentioned. Yes, Tibet is really a magical place. Tibet now seems to be not only a travel destination, but even a cultural symbol. It is a cultural symbol that people will inevitably think of whenever they mention travel.
I have been to Tibet three times in different ways, but today I still miss Tibet, and from time to time I have the urge to set out again. Of course, due to various reasons, this fourth trip to Tibet has not been implemented for a long time. This is true for me as a freelancer, and it doesn’t need to be said for most 9-to-5 office workers. Tibet is very close, and it takes only a few hours by plane to arrive, and taking the train is just two sleeps. But it seems that it is not so easy to reach.
As the roof of the world, Tibet is quite high, with an average elevation of more than 4,000. For many people, it is a far-sighted existence that must never be played. I ran into a tourist in Lhasa once, and he flew excitedly from Shanghai to the City of Sunlight. From the window of the plane, I was looking at the towering snow-capped mountains with excitement. The result was dizziness and nausea as soon as I got off the plane. Tianyang bought another ticket and went back in despair. Even the Potala Palace could only pay attention when passing by by taxi. And he is still relatively young. Even if he is dizzy because of his height, there is no danger. For some people who are elderly or have other diseases, the consequences of coming to Tibet are really unimaginable.
However, it is still a minority that it is physically difficult to reach Tibet like this. Most people actually have difficulty reaching Tibet from life. It is precisely because of this that going to Tibet has become a dream for many people. Dreams are often unattainable.
Although Tibet is not far away, it can be reached by plane, by train, by car, and even by some people by bicycle or on foot. It's not expensive to go to Tibet. It may cost thousands of yuan by plane, but only a few hundred yuan by train. Therefore, for most people, not being able to go to Tibet is actually not because of money, but because there is no time. Time is more precious than money. It takes at least a week to go to Tibet, and a week’s vacation is very luxurious for most office workers and some entrepreneurs, as well as individual entrepreneurs.
After a long vacation that lasts once or twice a year, how many people can not go back to their hometown to see their parents, not accompany their loved ones, children, or meet friends, and then travel to Tibet alone? So most people really can't do it, not to mention that there are still a large number of people in our society who can't get a long vacation in a year, and they are busy all day to fight the increasing pressure of life.
Therefore, the dream of many people in Tibet has its real social significance. Because Tibet has become a cultural symbol that confronts real life, and has become a utopia that allows people to escape from mediocre life. There is no urban hustle and bustle here. Many places are desolate and vast beyond the reach of modern technology and civilization. There is no nine-to-five rush. Even Lhasa, the largest city in Tibet, is completely different from all cities in the interior. The unique charm that people yearn for.
The air here is thin, but there is always dazzling sunshine, clear and transparent lakes, rolling snow-capped mountains without a glance, magnificent temples, and the sound of chanting in the wind. All of this is enough to satisfy People in the city imagine the distance.
Of course, if you really live in Tibet and work hard in Tibet (in fact, there are indeed many Tibetan drifters now), then it is actually not that different from your struggle in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. But Tibet, as a travel destination, as a cultural symbol that confronts existing life, and as a place to escape from being tired of urban reinforced concrete forests, it definitely can afford the title of a dream land.
