The number of confirmed cases of mass infection in the Japanese Self-Defense Force rises to 28
According to a report by the Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK), the Asaka Base of the Self-Defense Forces in Tokyo, Japan, recently had a collective infection of the new crown virus. As of the 5th, 28 Self-Defense Forces have been diagnosed.
According to the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, from July to September this year, the Self-Defense Force held a training activity at Asaka Base. About 190 female Self-Defense Force members from all over the country participated in the activity. But towards the end of the event, some team members reported fever and other symptoms. After the event, several team members were diagnosed with the new crown virus after returning to their bases. As of the 5th, the number of infected people rose to 28.
The Self-Defense Forces launched an investigation into the specific cause of the infection. The current more likely cause is that on September 26, 44 members of the same group went to Saitama Prefecture for an outdoor dinner. The current 28 confirmed patients all participated in the dinner. In addition, the above-mentioned team members did not take epidemic prevention measures such as separate rides on the bus.
On October 6, local time, Japan’s Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi stated on the collective infection that he is currently investigating the specific activity schedule on September 26. Insufficient epidemic prevention measures are most likely the cause of the collective infection.
Nobuo Kishi once again asked all members of the Self-Defense Forces to take thorough measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic.
